The Michigan State Palma Field Championship

Location: Range 10, Camp Grayling National Guard Base, Grayling, Michigan 49739
Range Setup & Practice: Thursday, set up - 13:00. 1000 yard practice - 15:00; set-up personal shoot free, $10 for others.
Entry, Squadding & Firing Times: Entry and Squadding starts at 7:15 on the 1000 yard line. Firing starts at 08:00.
Entries: Entries will be made on SR-1 cards at Range 10 on the day of firing. Make checks or money orders payable to MRPA-LR. Entries will be accepted to the limit of the range; range space has always been sufficient for the number of entrants. However, assured entries may be obtained by writing MRPA-LR, 4965 Stanwood Street, Muskegon, MI 49441-5456 or email: dickpardini@comcast.net or phone (231) 798-3372.
New Competitors: To ensure entrance to Camp Grayling, you must notify the Match Director one week prior to shooting.
Fees: Individual Package Price for 3 days in conjunction with the Michigan Long Range / F-Class Regional (Sept 14 & 15): $100.00. Single days: $40.00, Additional Days: $30. Those who wish to practice can shoot for $30.00 per day. Juniors with any NRA classification card shoot free - no awards.
Eligibility: Competitors must be members of the Michigan Rifle and Pistol Association or their home state association. Competitors must complete a MRPA Long Range release of liability yearly. NRA membership is not required.
Pit Duty/ Pullers/ Other Duties: All competitors must perform pit duty or provide a substitute puller. A 3-relay rotation requiring individual target operation is used. Paid pit pullers are generally available--contact the Match Director one week prior. Additional duties as defined by the Match Director supporting the match may also be required of competitors.
Rules: This is an NRA Registered match. Current NRA High Power Rifle Rules govern. All matches will be fired on the standard LR targets using Rule 5.6, prone position. The Match Director reserves the right to modify the course of fire and pit rotation based on number of competitors, weather, and range conditions.
Shooter Classification: The NRA Long Range classification system applies. Shooters must declare their Shooter Classification and Rifle division/class on each completed scorecard. Unclassified competitors compete in the Master Class or use their High Power classification. Rule 19.6 - Assigned Classification, or 19.2 - Temporary Classification apply.
Rifle Divisions: There will be two rifle divisions: LR Rifle and F-Class Rifle. Depending upon the number of entries, the LR division may include classes for Service Rifle--Rule 3.1, Palma Rifle--Rule 3.3.3, Match Rifle--Rule 3.2, 3.3.1, & 3.3.2, and Any Sight Rifle (AROS)-- Rule 3.4. The F-Class division may include classes for F(o) and F(tr). Section 22 Rules applies.
Course of Fire Saturday: For LR Rifle: Iron sights.
Match 1 - Unlimited sighters and 15 shots for record in 22 minutes, slow-fire, 800 yards.
Match 2 - Two sighters and 15 shots for record in 22 minutes, slow fire, 900 yards.
Match 3 - Two sighters and 15 shots for record in 22 minutes, slow fire, 1000 yards.
Match 4 – Palma Championship: aggregate of matches 1, 2 & 3.
Match 5 – Bonus Match. Unlimited sighters and 20 shots for record in 30 minutes, slow-fire, 1000 yards.
Match 6 - Aggregate of all scores fired in matches 4 and 5.
Awards Disposition of Rifle Divisions, Classes, and Shooter Classifications: There will be awards for each fired match and aggregate for all rifle divisions, classes, and shooter classifications. There must be 5 or more entries in a rifle class/ shooter classification for one award or 10 or more for two awards, etc. If there are fewer than 5 High Masters entered, they will fire for open awards only. The High Master & AROS Classes will not be combined with any other classes. MICHIGAN PALMA FIELD CHAMPION: The shooter of a Palma rifle with the highest score on Match 4 will be declared the 2013 Michigan Palma Field Champion. F-class and Aggregate winners will also be recognized. Only Michigan residents may be declared Michigan State Palma Field Champion.

MICHIGAN STATE LONG RANGE REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS: The Match 8 winners for LR Rifle, F(o) Rifle, and F(tr) Rifle will be declared the 2013 Michigan Long Range Regional Champions – 1st place - NRA Regional Gold Medallions; 2nd place - NRA Regional Silver Medallions; 3rd place - NRA Regional Bronze Medallions.
