The 2017 sectionals were sponsored by the University of Michigan Rifle Club & MRPA smallbore division. This sectional helped determine the shooters who would advance to the national's held at Ft. Benning. 81 shooters representing the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Grand Valley State University, University of Akron, and University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh competed over two weekends  to attend the championship.
