This last year of 2021, the Black Powder Division conducted (2) midrange matches. First match of the year was our Midrange State Championship Match on May 29th and 30th at the Cadillac Sportsman's Club. The course of fire was 10 shots each both days at 200-300-600 yards. We had 13 competitor's for this match, which was the first match we've held in 2 years. The winner in Iron Sights , and current Midrange State Champion was Paul Behe with a score of 560-11x. The winner in Scope Class and current Scope State Champion was Barbara Walters with a score of 538-14x.

The second match of the year was an NRA Midrange Regional Match held on August 7th and 8th at the Cadillac Sportsman's Club. The course of fire for this match was 10 shots each both days at 300-500-600 yards. We had 12 competitor's for this match. The NRA gave us engraved medals for 1st 2nd and 3rd place in both Irons and Scope Classes. They also sent us engraved medals for Master, Expert, Sharp Shooter, and Marksman. This was the first time i have ever seen medals for the 4 different shooting classifications. The second day of the match was rained out, so, the scores are b1 day only scores. The winner in Iron Sights was Paul Behe with a score of 278-7X. The winner in Scope Class was Bob Elka with a score of 282-7X. Schuetzen Energetics donated a 25lb. case of 1.5F Swiss Powder that we handed out as "Door Prises". This last year we had MRPA Team shirts for shooting awards that everyone got.

This upcoming year of 2022 I have the same match schedule as 2021. A State Championship Match Memorial Day Weekend and an NRA Regional the first weekend in August. As with last year I am planning on getting some team shirts for awards. We have some from last year left so we only need a handful. We also don't need any targets this year so our overall costs should be lower. I also bumped up the match fees from $50 to $55 dollars this year to cover our share of the MRPA expenses. This is the first increase since 2009 for sure, possibly the first time our Division raised the prices to shoot. It's been coming for a long time. We have discussed it many times so it should be no surprise to our competitors.
