We had great weather shy of the horendous winds and the invasion of bugs. The competition for the Governor's Trophy was exciting. At the end of the first day Tina Bruske was in the lead with our current Mid-Range State Champ John Wier only 5 points behind, and last years winner Barbara Walters in 3rd behind by 33 points with only 2 10 shot matches left to go. Never under estimate the winds at Camp Grayling to do their thing and leave you guessing. The second day John and Tina both had 1 match they dropped off on a little but Barb did not and made up ground. The match ended with Barb on a repeat for the Governor's Trophy followed by our Mid-Range State Champ John Wier in 2nd only 5 points behind and one of our newest shooters Tina Bruske in 3rd only 9 points behind Barb. The outcome of the match could have been totally changed by one single shot from any of the top 3 finishers. A real photo finish. As an added feature, one of our Divisions Founding Fathers, Lew Owen shot his last 2 matches OFF-HAND ! He had 2 - 6's and 1 - 10 the first try for a total of 22 points in 10 shots at a grand ! He followed it up with 13 the second try, and that was in a very difficult to shoot in wind to boot. We'd like to welcome back Greg Galla again and hope he continues to shoot with us in the future. To sum it up, awesome warm weather (90's) best competition you could imagine, and wind conditions to test the best. A lot can be learned for future matches shooting in that wind. A great time had by all.
